Below is a summary of Franz Türk in the FALSTAFF wine guide.
That’s what the Falstaff says about us: Franz Türk is one of the most established Grüner Veltliner producers in the country. The two-time Grüner Veltliner Grand Prix victory, the admission to the Hall of Fame in London and numerous international awards confirm these achievements.
The Grüner Veltliner from a light fresh summer wine, to the classics of Loess and Urgestein, and up to the distinctive, ERSTE LAGE wines are his passion. A special insider tip are the sweet wines. The Grüner Veltliner grape variety dominates with over 75% of the vineyard, about 50% of which are exported. The current company headquarters was acquired in 1836 and expanded from generation to generation.
Beginning last year, winemaker Franz Türk began producing a wine with the legendary chef Eckart Witzigmann, Edition Eckart Witzigmann “My Grüner Veltliner”. An extremely versatile food companion as refined as the dishes of the Grand Seigneur of the kitchen.
With the 2016 vintage, the Türk family was the first winery worldwide to introduce a label designed for the base of the bottle. Each variety now gets its own classified colour according to the colour of the soil or the fruit characters found in the wine, the more intense the colour of the hue, the richer the wine. The ERSTE LAGE wines are marked in gold, silver and bronze. To sum it up then, his wines are easily recognizable by a highly recognisable symbol located on the bottom of the bottle for excellent visibility in the wine fridge or climatized wine cellar.
